2016 Tasmanian Floods

Hello again, just a week after the frosts in my last post we have had some of the worst floods in quite a few years, in some parts on Tasmania they were the worst in living memory. Our river was not hit as hard and we had time to move our stock to higher ground. There was a calf and a lamb born in the weather and they were fine. We were cut off from our school so the kids had a few days off, they were happy about that.

Some others were not so lucky and there have been some lives lost and reports of substantial stock losses in the north west of the state, our thoughts are with them in these hard times.

Last year we had one of the driest Winter, Spring and Summers in may years so we are welcoming the wet weather here as it helps fill up the sub soil and keeps the cold frosts away.

Here are some photos of around the farm during the floods.
